Is Mae44 safe and legal in Malaysia?
The short answer: we could not confirm a Mae44 licence, and online gambling carries legal risk in Malaysia.
SHORT ANSWER
We found no regulator or licence number for Mae44. The Court of Appeal ruled in 2023 that online gambling premises fall within the definition of a common gaming house, and syariah law prohibits Muslims from gambling. We therefore can't say Mae44 is safe or legal. This is not legal advice.
Is Mae44 licensed?
On the pages checked on 5 November 2026, we found no regulator name, licence number or verification link for Mae44. The "Game License" section of mae44.io (external site, new tab) shows only a Squeen 668 Group logo. A group's logo is not proof of a licence.
The "Certifications" section shows iovation, BMM, iTech Labs, TST and GoDaddy logos with no links or certificate numbers. Our guide on how to check a casino licence shows how to test claims like these.
Is online gambling legal in Malaysia?
In October 2023, the Court of Appeal ruled that premises used for online computer gambling, even without physical equipment, fall within the definition of a common gaming house under section 2(d) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, as reported by The Sun (external site, new tab) and Free Malaysia Today (external site, new tab).
The government is also preparing new legislation. In February 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof said a bill was being drafted, according to Bernama (external site, new tab) and Free Malaysia Today (external site, new tab). We found no report confirming the bill has been tabled, so check for later developments.
The legal position can change and depends on your circumstances. Consult a qualified Malaysian lawyer if you need certainty.
Can Muslims play?
No. Malay Mail (external site, new tab) reports that Malaysia's syariah laws prohibit Muslims from gambling. The Malaysia4U (external site, new tab) legal guide states this covers online gambling, whether the platform is local or offshore.
What is the age limit?
Mae44 states 18 and over. Malaysia4U (external site, new tab) reports that Malaysia's licensed casino sets a minimum age of 21. This site takes the stricter approach and is intended only for readers aged 21 and over.
What are the risks to players?
- Legal. See the legal position above.
- Financial. Losing is a normal outcome in gambling, and with no identified regulator your options in a dispute may be limited.
- Personal data. Registration asks for your name and phone number. Never share an OTP with anyone.
- Lookalike domains. Mae44 uses many domains, which makes fake links harder to spot.
- Addiction. Daily bonuses are designed to bring you back. Read our responsible gambling guide.
How do you identify a Mae44 domain?
The page we checked uses mae44.io as its canonical address, but its structured data refers to mae44.ai. Its "More Links" list also shows mae44.xyz, mae44.online, mae44.store, mee44.life and mae44.biz. Note the different spelling of "mee44". We can't vouch for any of these domains, and this site's own domain does not belong to Mae44.
